Why you should move over to natural deodorants

Why you should move over to natural deodorants

Your conventional deodorant probably contains ingredients harmful for your health. Antiperspirant and other non natural deodorants aren't very well regulated and contain harmful chemicals such as aluminium. Deodorants and antiperspirants aren't seen as pharmaceutical products, and producers aren't required to disclose every ingredient.

Studies have linked the use of conventional deodorants to Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer - but more studies have disproved this. But still, I'd rather be safe than sorry and that's one of the reasons I made the change to natural deodorant.

So why choose for a natural deodorant?

Natural deodorants don't block your pores and help the good bacteria in your underarms to do their job: reducing your smelly underarms. They also moisturize your armpits and make them less prone to irritation.

Remember, perspiration is a good thing as it helps cool down your body and get rid of toxins.

Regulations for deodorants and anti-perspirants are barely regulated, producers don't need to disclose all of the ingredients on the ingredient list. And even if they do, do you really know what a 'perfume' is?

You'll be giving your money to sustainable and organic companies rather than big corporations who only care about money and not the environment. The chemicals and non-organically grown ingredients do a lot more harm than just your body, but also disrupt complete eco-systems!

It also helps reduce your plastic footprint (most natural deodorants have plastic-free packaging) and you'll be giving your money to sustainable and organic companies rather than big corporations who only care about money and not the environment.

Plant-based natural deodorants are here to save the day.

They don't block your pores and help the good bacteria in your underarms to do their job, eventually help to reduce your smelly underarms. They moisturize your armpits and make them less prone to irritation. Perspiration is a good thing, as it helps cool down your body and get rid of toxins. But making the change from anti-perspirants is definitely something you need to get used to! I don't sweat nearly as much now as when I first started using natural deodorants, but it was a strange change my body had to make half a year ago.

I was so smelly for the first three months and almost wanted to give up and go back to my 'trusty' anti-perspirant. But I tried an underarm detox and you know what? It actually worked - for a little while. For the first week, I gave my underarms a mask every single day, mixing 2 teaspoons of bentonite clay with a quarter teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and a drop of tea tree oil, leaving it there for 5-10 minutes. I did get really annoyed by smelling myself all the time, so I've kept on searching for my perfect deodorant.
